Hard to explain this "in short"...

I'm $160K in student loan debt. Never late, no defaults, etc.
My job only affords me, at most, $4k/month gross.

I've calculated and it'll take my death or winning the lotto to pay off my loan.

My current lender is Educaid, one lender, already consolidated (mistake- I listened to my loan counselor at school years ago).

I've tried to get my loans transferred to Direct Loans because they offer a income repayment program, that after 25 years, you can have any remaining balance forgiven by paying the tax only.

Educaid declined to transfer the loan, they've declined my letter of appeal. Apparently under the "single lender rule" they're allowed by federal law to decline.

Thus, what else can I do? Educaid offers no such program of "forgiveness", only Direct Loans.

Thanks.

How did you get into 160k of debt?
Are you in medical school or something? I hope its a profession that will make it worth it... see if the business you take a job with will do loan forgiveness (they will pay a portion of your loans in exchange for a contract.)
