Has your loan been rehabbed yet?? It can take up to 90 days from the time the rehab has funded to adjust your credit report.

Its been 60 days since my last payment posted. Direct loans says they sent notice to cra's a month ago. CRA's say they have received no such notice. Now trying to dispute and contact ombuds.

Congrats.
When I did DH loans, I disputed it with the CRA and it came right off....
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

How do you rehab your loans? Where can I read about this a little bit more?

Thanks for any help.

who's your lender? start there & do it quick, we nabbed it within days of paycheck garnishment, it is in rehab for the next 8 months then payments will be based on income, not amount due, and we can defer again. I was told this by my collection agency. Also look up the Dept of Education how to pay off my student loans/about defaulted student loans.

FYI..the student loan Ombudsman does not get involved with credit reporting issues.

If it has been 60 days since your last payment, you have to allow up to 90 days from the date the rehab funded for any adjustments to be made to your credit report.

Well, I have the loans serviced by Mohela but I can access them via DirectLoans. The lender for a while was USBank. Now I'm in a status of forberance but I would like to start paying the loans and rehab seems like the only way of clearing the lates off of my credit report. Am I correct?

You are not correct. It sounds like you're confused.

MOHELA does not service Direct Loans, and Direct Loans does not service loans for MOHELA. The only way a loan could be transferred from either of those 2 lenders to the other is through consolidation.

If your loans are in forbearance they are not in default, and therefore are not eligible for rehab.

If you want to start paying, find out who has them (probably whoever gave you the forbearance), and pay.

Well, I have a bunch of late payments that won't come off that's why I started asking for rehab. Is that the way to get them off? I can start paying if that will help me get those lates off of my credit reports.

Thanks .... Yes, I'm a little confused unsure.gif

Just a bit of an update on what happened to my loans. My guarantor, KHEAA (Kentucky Higher Ed Assistance Authority) sold my loans to KHESLC (Kentucky Higher Ed Student Loan Co.) Per my agreement, they reduced the 25% collection charges down to 18.5% which didn't take off much but every little bit helps. Plus they sent a letter stating they were sending a request to have their tradelines deleted at the end of the month.

Thanks Student Loan forum!!!!!!!

Can someone please help me and point me in the right direction on what to do to have those lates removed?

Thanks

Going back and reading it sounds like you are not in default so rehab is not an option. If you loans are still with your lender/servicer you have NO options at getting lates removed. Student loan lates are required to be reported. Even with a loan in default and a rehab program, lates with the original lender servicer are not removed.
