Hi All,

Sorry if this is a repeat. I couldn’t find an answer when I searched.

I’m following the HIPPA process to remove two medical accounts. My progress to date:

• Sent Pre-HIPPA to CRA
• Received answer with no detail
• Sent FTC Complaint with copy of Pre-HIPPA
• Received detail from CRA
• Sent HIPPA letter with insert A to OC-1 and OC-2 (Money order with restricted endorsement)
• OC-1 sent automated statement, showing payment applied with 0 remaining balance.
• OC-2 called me, said payment would be applied and they would pull account back from CA.
• Sent follow-up letter to CRA with cover letter and copies to OC-1 & OC-2 (April 10th).

Today, received a letter from Equifax, saying:

Dear Consumer,

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding your Equifax credit file. The service that Equifax provides as specified by the FRCA requires that within a 30-day period, the request for verification will be completed and the consumer will be properly notified. Federal and state laws closely regulate all services of credit reporting agencies.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take further action on some of all of your items. Please see below for more information on these items.

We could not complete our reinvestigation because you did not provide us with sufficient information to investigate your dispute on the accounts listed below. Please provide applicable specific information concerning your dispute with regard to each account listed. Applicable information includes the following:

• Not mine
• Released
• Satisfied
• Paid in Full
• Account Closed
• Included in Bankruptcy
• Current/Previous Payment Status Incorrect
• Dismissed/Discharged

CA #1 Account #1
CA #2 Account #2

Then the standard stuff about adding a consumer statement and not using a credit repair company. Yada, yada, yada.

My instinct is to file a new FTC complaint, saying that Equifax did not reinvestigate, and send a letter saying politely “What part of re-investigate did you not understand?”, and “The 30 day period must be completed 30 days from the original letter”.

But, I’d wanted a second opinion before responding.

Thanks All!
