In Apr 2006 I received a $126 bill from a CA on a clinic visit from Dec 2005. In Aug 2006 I asked for validation, but all they sent was a statement with my name on it. I have not written them since, and they have not contacted me either. Would I be opening a can of worms by offering to pay it now? Or should I just ignore it until they decide to send me another bill? I have one paid collection for $168 on my reports now.

Since this is a medical collection, you already opened up a can of worms when you DVed them. Is this on your report? Since this is less than 2 years ago, did you receive any bills from the OC regarding this clinic visit?

Isn't that what I was supposed to do instead of just paying it?

No.

No. The first "bill" I received was from the CA stating they had "written or called numerous times." They had not.

Isn't that what I was supposed to do instead of just paying it? I suppose people do DV accounts prior to finding CB. Its recommended that you don't DV medical collection accounts as you are giving the CA permission to release medical data under HIPAA.

Since this is not reporting on your CR, have you tried to contacting the OC to see what happened? Do you have information regarding this account like(date of service, account number, amount owed to the OC)?
