Full Version: Went Through Loan Rehab. Still Have Baddies On CR.
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

I had 2 student loans in default. The lender filed a claim against the guarantor. I then had 4 total negative TL's on my credit reports (2 from the lender and 2 from the SLGFA.

I entered rehab through the government's CA. At the time I started the rehab, I was told that all related negatives on my credit reports would be removed upon completion of the program.

Well, I've completed the rehab and I've been making my payment's on time with NelNet and they are reporting positively. The problem is that while the SLGFA's negative entries are gone from my reports, the previous lender's remain (although the credit report says they are scheduled to go to a positive status early next year).

My question is, should all the negatives be gone or was I misled?

Thank you for reading this post.

Per the Higher Education Act, on the current holder is required to remove negative tradelines. The lender is under no legal obligation to remove anything.

The SLGFA negs should be gone. Nelnet should report based on your payments with them. The OC is not required to remove anything.

I should not have trusted what the CA said. That was pre-CB. Even so, I think I am better off than any other route I could have taken (other than not defaulting).

Thank you for your responses!
