Just talked to Saturn Dealership's Finance guy. They have a '95 Saturn SL1 loaded with just 44000 miles for $3595. Since our BK was just d/c in April 2003 I was concerned about getting any kind of financing. We don't need any more car as the vehicle is just for me to go grocery shopping and to the doctors' appt. and taking the dog to the vet, etc. Back in the summer other dealers were telling me their lenders would only do $7500 minimum on loans so I wasn't holding out much hope.
However, this guy said he just closed a $3200 loan. If we put even a $500 downpayment we would only need about $3000. He said they were a platinum dealership and GMAC was pretty good about doing these lower amount loans for them. My scores aren't all that good:
TU 627 EQ 618 EXP 686
but hubby's are better:
TU 676 EQ 659 EXP 695
His Equifax should be better as 3 unauthorized hard pulls should be coming off soon.
We want a car where in about 8 months or so the balance would be such that if we had to we could pay it off so it won't be a worry if something comes up financially that would be a problem. But we would rather just keep paying in order to help raise our scores.
Anyone have any experience with GMAC? Thanks in advance.
