Hi everyone... So here is a little background

I disputed my DOE tradeline on Experian a few months back in the beginning of my credit repair. All lates fell off of Experian and in turn without disputing fell off of EQ as well. I went to dispute the lates on TU. Well the next thing you know without even getting back the investigation results from TU the lates reappeared the other day on Experian tanking my score from 638 to 554...arghhhh

Well today I went through all of my old paperwork and came across a letter from DOE stating that my loans are in forebearance until 6/4/2006. Well I refinanced the loan with ACS in MAY 2006 while my loan was still in forebearance.

What do I do now....do I send a reinsertion letter to Experian with a copy of my old credit report with a copy of the new credit report.

OR do I send the letter I have from DOE to Experian as proof?

OR do I write directly to DOE and send them the letter I have?

I am really at a lost here any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In this case, I'd make a copy of the letter showing you were in deferment and send it to DOE. Demand they remove the false lates.

On what date was the forbearance processed?

Start date, end date, and, most importantly, process date would be needed.

Oh gosh I have no clue...pretty much the entire time from 6 months after graduation in 2004 which was December I had my loans in forebearance not Deferment. They told me that I made too much for deferment. Even though I DIDN;t. SO I would have to call back in every 2 months and get another forebearance processed. I wish back then i would have gone ahead and submitted the deferment paperwork no matter what they told me on the phone because I am sure I would have been approved with what I know now...but too little too late. I do know however that I called like clockwork whenever it was time to set up another forebearance.

They would have no reason to tell you you don't qualify for a deferment if you actually do. They're not a for-profit company, and even FFELP lenders will still get paid interest while the borrower is in deferment (the government pays for it on the subsidized loans, and the unsub keep accumulating interest that is added to yoru balance at the end)

If your gross monthly income (before taxes) is over $1100 you usually don't, except if your student loan payments are 20% or more of your gross monthly income AND subtracting your student loan payments from your GMI puts you below that $1100 mark.

Without a process date you have proof of nothing; anyone can get a retro forbearance after they're already delinquent.

Is the date of the letter before you were reported delinquent? You may have something in that case.

Thanks so much for your response. I never meant to imply that they were trying to keep me from deferring to make money. The person I spoke with that day on teh phone asked me multiple questions about my finances and payments and what not. After she was done she told me that I MOST likely would not qualify for a deferment but I would qualify for a forebearance.

That is where I made my mistake I should have tried for the deferment anyways because she did direct me at the time to the website to download the form and send it in. That was at the same time that she processed my forebearnce in the "mean time".

I honestly am not sure about the process date as I don't have the actual letter in front of me now. I will double check the letter when I get home and see exactly what it says.

Should I try sending the letter in to Experian?
