Hi all! I'm just starting my credit repair process and have some pretty specific questions that I need help answering.

#1: I had a student loan that was originally with BofA. When I went into default, it was taken over by Chela. It is now currently with ECMC who I'm in process of rehab with. My question is this...Chela is reporting on my CR as "claim filed with government/past due 180 days". Is this correct since it is now in the hands of ECMC who is also reporting it?

#2: I had enrolled in a community college a couple years ago but changed my mind about attending. I unfortunately did not withdraw from my courses by the deadline to not be charged the tuition. There were no loans taken out for this because of a reimbursement program through my employer. The past due tuition has been turned over to a CA and I have received letters. My state taxes for 2005 were garnished due to the past due tuition but not my federal taxes. My question is, do they have to notify me if they are going to garnish my taxes? This collection is NOT being reported on any of my CR either.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Should show 0 bal/pif by claim. CHELA got bought out by another company and may have not updated. Contact Nelnet (Chelas new owner) and they should be able to help you get it corected.

That's an issue of state law. You would need to ask an attorney.

Thanks in advance for your help!!
