I have 4 of my loans showing 90 days late and more from April 2003. The lates happened during the time I was requesting a forbearance and waiting for it to be approved by AES and then by TERI. I got the forbearance but only after they reported to the CRAs. It is only on TU and Equifax. My score has dropped almost 100 points b/c of this and my credit cards have jacked up the APR on my cards. They verified.
Here is my question. Should I call AES and request a letter stating that those loans were on forbearance from January - June 2003 (which is true) and then send that to Equifax and TU? Will that work or should i try a goodwill letter instead?
TIA!!

I would verify that they were indeed on forbearance (ask for documentation as well), if they were, why not ask the student loan company to please fix it. If they don't, then send a letter to the CRA.

I already verified over the phone with AES that they were indeed on forbearance. They claim the lates were still valid though. I already tried disputing and they came back verified.

From what I was told is that even though you got forbearance and even if it was retroactive...they are still valid lates and they won't remove them.

Did you have this problem or were you told this by AES?
This is why I am trying to go the route of getting the forbearance letter and then sending that to the CRAs. Not sure if I should. Haven't done it yet. Looking for more opinions still.

Here's a little "heads" up on AES.
AES will not do anything for you whatsover except try to screw with your information. AES Is a conglomerate of bitter, disgusting individuals who have never invested a single dollar of their own money into any of this and live solely to rip off studnets who don't know any better by filing for fees and funds from the federal government using the social security numbers of unsuspecting individuals.
They routinely perpetuate fraud and should be under federal indictment however they manage to bribe just enough federal officials each year to keep their butts out of jail.
Other than that, that's a good gang ya got there.
Oh and by the way EVEN if AES gets paid they will still maintain they never made a dime off of using your social security number.
To put it simply, they are the scum of the earth.
Nuff said.

While I tend to give a large amount of latitude on this forum, unless you can provide some sort of documentation and proof that the allegations are indeed at least somewhat accurate, I am going to have to ask you to either retract them or edit and remove them.

Agreeing with Fla-Tan.
There's some pretty strong accusations in there.
