SallieMae has changed the account numbers to 10 digit system from SS#. However, Equifax is showing two accounts from SallieMae (one with SS#, and the new one 10 digit number) although I have only one (it makes my debt double). I disputed it with EQ twice, and it came back as verified (the SS# one as closed). I just called SallieMae and she tells me SallieMae verified with EQ. I asked her how they could verify the closed account (SS#), and she tells me I need to send my credit report to SallieMae so that they will investigate it. What are they going to investigate?

This happens more often than it should, both with FFELP lendors and with the DE. Your best bet is usually to send them a copy of the credit report that has the incorrect information, after verifying with them that what you have on your credit report does not match what they state they reported.

I can't stand Sallie Mae, I've got a private loan from them and 2 Fed loans,. I just colsolidated the Fed's (they were paid off today) now I gotta figure out a way to get my private laon paid off or away from them. Usually after a very long telephone conversation that gets me nowhere with them I fax them a letter explaining how long I had just been on the phone to get nothing taken care of and thus had to waste more of my time on SM with a fax. I always get an apology and my problem fixed.

same thing happening to me but with TU. I have a SL of $18,000 and its showing up twice, once with the account number and one with my ss number. I tried disputing about 3 times, no luck. Going to try to dispute directly with Sallie Mae and send them my report.
