I hate to be long but each report has a different situation and I'm not sure what the best action is for my score......
Trans Union-has three TL for SL
1. US Dep of Ed-this one is paid in full, opened 2001, condition derogatory
2. SM Services-showing pay status current, opened in 1996 and the condition is closed (refinanced)
3. SM Services-showing pay status current, opened 1996, closed (transferred)
OK so I my question is do I do anything with 2&3 or just leave them alone since they say current?

Experian-
1. SM Servicing-pay status transferred to another lender or claim purchased, opened 1996, account type closed
2. SM Servicing-pay status, same as above, 1996, closed
3. US Dep Ed-paid, opened 2001, pay status seriously past due-collection agency, etc.
Question what should I do about 1 &2-get them deleted? Should I try to get the pay status changed?

Equifax-
1. SM SL-current status “to new to rate", opened 1996, comments "account transferred or sold"
2. Direct Loans-current status "collection account", opened 2001, comments "sl assigned to govmn't ca"
3. US DoE-current status "collection account", opened 2001, comments "paid collection"
So here, I never heard of or had any correspondence with #2-anything I can do there? Is there anyway I can get the status on the paid collection to just "paid"? Should I have the first TL deleted?

I'm so confused because I don't want to delete things that may cause my score to drop!!!
TIA

You really do not have much choice in what can be deleted. Student loans will age off 7 years after your default date for SM and 7 years after the claim paid date for Direct Loans.

What is the history for this account?? Did you consolidate your Sallie Mae loans with Direct Loans and then default?? Are these paid off??

It is just one loan and I never dealt with Direct Loans-not that I can remember. After deffering for a few years I started paying and then went into default. Three years ago I started paying, about a year after I was first placed in default. I thought I set up rehab through Nationwide Credit, but found out after sticking to my payment plan that I was never enrolled in the rehab program, so I just paid the loan out right last year. Now that I am really getting into cleaning up my reports these loans are the one thing that is confusing. I opened the loans in 1996 so technically the TLs that have that date should have fallen off in 2003, but since some of those TLs state "current" as the status I am not sure if I should have them deleted. If I don't stand a chance at getting the condition of the accounts changed from "derogatory, paid after charge off" to just "paid" I'll live with it, I just want to make sure it is correct to delete the multiple TLs?

I feel like I am being about as clear as mud, but hopefully you understand. smile.gif

When did these become delinquint? was it 1996...if so, you can just argue obsolete...that should do it. Find out that first. I would say.
