What is the best strategy for disputing with Sallie Mae?

I had 4 loans with Sallie Mae, I consolidated all the loans in March '06. Since consolidation all the loans have been paid on time.
Before consolidation all the loans were in Forbearance, Years 2004 & 2005.
I contacted Sallie Mae, they sent a letter with all the loan information and the Forbearance periods for all the loans. Short and Sweet, nothing was mentioned about the retro.
I have disputed the lates with the CRA's, they won't accept the letter as proof of documentation.
I have contacted Sallie Mae, they asked for copies of my credit report proving that they are reporting as late, and they would review it. (yeah, right!)

At the same time - I have duplicate loans form Sallie Mae reporting under both my SS# and the account number. CRA's list as verified, SLM says for me to prove that they are reporting under both.

These loans are reporting from 90-150 days late on all 4 loans and their duplicates from Aug'04 to July'05.
Do I send a letter to DOE or should I send another letter to SLM demanding removal of the duplicates and lates?

Does anyone have a phone number for the credit reporting department of Sallie Mae?

Hey man, my wife had the same problem with Sallie Mae a couple of years ago. Her scores were in the low-mid 500s. They were reporting her late when she was still in school. About a year ago, they fixed it. Now, her scores are in the high 600s.

You did a retro forebearance??

If so, the lates are valid. Retro forebearances has no affect on a credit report. That is why it has always been my opinion that retro forebearances are a waste of time.

All of the lates are from 2004 & 2005. I have no idea if they were retro or not. 2004 & 2005 were bad years for our family, some of the lates may be valid. I really don't remember when I applied and Sallie Mae only sent 2 of the 4 forbearance applications.
These forbearances are listed as:

Voluntary Forbearance 9/23/03 to 9/22/04
Verbal Forbearance 09/23/04 to 05/22/05
Voluntary Forbearance 05/23/05 to 07/22/05
Disaster Forbearance 09/23/05 to 12/22/05

They only have applications on the Voluntary status. Verbal was granted via phone because of hurricanes, but not listed as disaster.

How do I get the duplicates removed? Should I send them copies of my credit reports? Sallie Mae must have the duplicates listed in their computers to report them.
