Need some guidance here. I took out loans through SSSC which were sold to Sallie Mae after I finished U of Phoenix. All of my payments to Sallie Mae have been on time. However, SSSC is reporting a 30 d late even though they had sold the loan prior to repayment.

I tried calling SSSC and U. of Phoenix to no avail. They suggested starting disputes with the credit bureaus (which I've done).

Does anyone have the contact info for a live person with a clue at SSSC???

TIA!

Did you stop making a payment to SSSC before sallie mae notified you in writing that your loan has been taken over by them?

I'm just taking this as an example, but when doing a federal consolidation, the agents in my company are instructed inform you of certain things. Like if you are consolidating, the line is, please continue to make scheduled payments to your current servicer until you receive in writing from us that your loans have been taken over.

It's not sallie mae reporting the late, it's SSSC. It sounds like you got messed up by the sale of the loans, and repayment date payments.

Exactly what happened when you left school? Did you consolidate with SM or are they still the regular loans that are now serviced by SM instead of SSSC? SSSC *is* SM -- if it's not a consolidation, then your loans weren't "sold" to SM, per se, SM just began servicing them about a year ago or so when they took over the SSSC division's servicing operations. I consolidated with SSSC and on my end, the switch was invisible, although I have auto debit, so it's not like I ever had to send checks or anything.

If it was a consolidation (meaning your loans were taken out in school through SSSC and you consolidated with SM), then I suspect that bliss may be correct.

Hope this helps!! Good luck with the disputes!
