Hello, I am looking into getting the lil hummer. I saw offers for a $299/mo lease and 0% 60mo buy. What scores or requirement would these options need? thank you all.

Personally, I don't think they should be available to the general public. They should have stayed in the military.

The Hummer H3 is based on the Chevy Trailblazer and is not a huge truck.

the H2 and H3 are unrelated to the military vehicle that inspired their marketing.

I know about the H1 getting discontinued. I know that's why they bought the H3 out to appeal to consumers that don't want the large one.

I know the H2 and 3 are NOT the military inspired vehicles. Regardless, they are still hummers. And if someone wants it for the "power", they are being mislead. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has more horsepower and torque and weighs 900 pounds less.

Who wants to pay 19 mpg highway?? And we all know those mpg aren't accurate.

A mom with her kids in my son's karate class has an H2 and can't manuever that thing to save her life. They don't need to be on the road period.

Whoa, no need to get bent out of shape. Just reiterating my point. I was responding to you and SteveD in the first two paragraphs, but the last two were directed at nobody in particular.

Maybe the OP likes the looks of the H3 better than the Jeep. The H3 gets 16/20 mpg, the Grand Cherokee Limited gets 15/20, the Ford Explorer gets 15/21 and the Toyota Sequoia gets 15/18. Each is a direct competitor of the H3.

As MarvBear points out, one's score probably won't be the sole determining factor in loan/lease approval and terms offered.

(With the prejudice that I am strongly against leases) OP should run the numbers to determine if a lease or purchase is the best course of action. A loan will probably be easier to qualify for and a downpayment may move you into a better tier. (I would assume that something along the same line would apply for leases in that amount put down gets you better lease terms but MarvBear will give more substantive advice)

while we're at it...the Mercedes line is a HUGE waste...just think of the savings the country would experience if they were banned too. And don't forget those Corvettes...after all, what does anyone NEED a vehicle like that for?

if I had the money for a hummer, I wouldn't care about "dirty looks" from people that are jealous (which is the only reason you'd get dirty looks, other than from people who think that they can control other people's lives), and I'd be able to afford the extra gas money

hummers are ugly. that is why I give them dirty looks. also people who buy them offer drive like a-holes. and theey are misled into thinking these toy vehicles are offroad worthy. the H1 is...the other two are not.

sorry if you don't think these are legitimate reasons to not like a vehicle.

When DS bought his new truck in March, it was parked next to an H-3. The salesman told him it was a glorified trail blazer. The cost was no more than his new truck.

very few people make a purely sound financial decision when purchasing an automobile. Perhaps some of our creditboards member do.

I've been in the automotive industry since the early 70's, most buy a vehicle as an expression of ego.

If your wallet/purse supports your ego, then go buy whatever you wish.

A vehicle wrongly or rightly, is perceived by consumers in general as a status symbol. To some a Hummer automobile is an ultimate expression of status. To others another product would be. It is purely a matter of personal taste and personal finances.

This is NOT about the OP, but the people around here who drive Hummers are mostly men, middle-aged. It's blatently obvious that it's about their ego. It's their version of the "little red sports car".

I am annoyed at the kind of American excess it represents, but that's a whole other post and rant.

pryran - the last time I checked Mercedes vehicles and others you mentioned weren't so heaping BIG that they prevent other vehicles to see around them, are so BIG that they might MURDER someone in a car accident, or are so BIG that they have a hard time parking it.

oh, and btw, people aren't giving Hummers dirty looks because they're jealous. Trust me.

If these new Hummers are just another vehicle in disguise, why not buy the TrailBlazer?

hedgemony - a tax break on H2's? Really? That's just freaking crazy. It totally goes against the reason for the tax break on Toyota Prius's and the like.
