Full Version: NextStudent screwed up my consolidation
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

Ok, before July 1st, we were all in a frenzy to get our consolidations done before the deadline. My situation was no different... only I went with NextStudent given that their rates and benefits seemed pretty competitive. I e-mail, called, and faxed all my info in by June 29th, and fortunately, I kept all evidence of this.

I called NextStudent last week, just to find out what the status of my consolidation was, and to my utter dismay, they told me they never received my signed and faxed in-school waiver form needed to get my current bank to release the loan to them!! Not only did I fax this in on June 29th, I kept the fax report that shows that I did... and not only that, I called in about 2 hours after I faxed that day it to make sure it was received. The person who answered the phone told me everything was complete and I was good to go. This new person who picked up the phone here now says there are no notes to indicate that I called to verify.

To cut a long story short, I'm feeling a combination of high frustration and anger, and wondering what to do now. Everyone was made aware of the importance of the July 1st deadline... and I did everything right! The rep I spoke to says that I should go ahead and re-fax the in-school waiver and she will do her best to make sure I still get the rates I was promised. I went ahead and faxed it in and I also faxed the fax report that shows a time stamp proving that I originally faxed in the in-school waiver well before the deadline (fortunately, my fax maching printed a mini picure of what was faxed.. so it's not just all text).

My question now is, given that I did everything to make sure I met the deadline and it's clearly NextStudent's fault, is it too late? What can I do if NextStudent comes back saying it can't be done?

I feel ya.

I didn't get that in either...but my situation was different...When I did the online thing they hadn't noticed there wasn't any info about the waiver form. and I didn't know about it. blush2.gif cray.gif

So my two SL's jumped up to 6.8% and there's nothing that can be done.

I have no idea if there's anything you can do. If they find it w/ the date on it, I would *think* they could finish the consolidation since they received it before July 1st, but I don't know otherwise...And even with that I'm not sure. dntknw.gif
