I am down to 1 single medical collection. I started about 13 months ago with 7-8 on each credit report. They all were in the 30-240 dollar range, i'd say averaging 85 dollars and age span of 2-4 years old.
I basically started out DV'ing them all, and disputing the the CRA's as not mine. Initially 2-3 dropped from each.
I then continued to dispute with the CRA's and sending DV's every 30 days as only 1 out of the 7-8 even responded to my dv's. After 5-6 months, i then began disputes with the BBB. The BBB removed the rest except for 1.
This left me with my single Collection account. I am hitting them hard and will file a bbb complaint with them in a month.
To answer questions, many were still in SOL. But with the low amounts, i would of paid if had to. I was working on improving credit d/t persuit of mortgage.
What i found is that with the use of the BBB, they deleted pretty quickly. Most said it was done by the OC's request.
I did not have any medical collections in the thousands, so i could risk this approach without much fear of lawsuit.
I have used the BBB with great success. This is not only on medical collections, but collections in general, and also paid accounts. They dont have much grounds when they dont respond to 3-4 dv requests.
So just another approach without paying a dime. You dont see a lot of people using the BBB. I personally have had great success, and so have others. It takes 4-6 months to build up a paper trail.
This last Collection is still in SOL, so we'll see. I waited for this one til last. They did respond to a DV several months ago with a statement from the OC. So i've waited for a few months, about 3-4 to pass, and am now starting the process again. I will be using the BBB for them as well.
I will let you know how i fair with them. I personally do not want to pay any CA a penny.
Im 13-14 months into my credit repair, so just remember, it takes time.
