I get this nice letter a few years ago explaining how I could pay off my debt for less than I owe. I had the money to pay it all off but they said I could pay less and be through with it. Now I have this Black Eye showing and I dont know what to do about it. I was fired after 911 and it put me behind on a lot of bills.
This is ugly and its hurting... How can I change this?

Who is it with? is this the OC's TL? I would wait a couple of months for the last reported date to age past a year and dispute with the CRAs as dates, amounts, and account # not correct. If you don't need new credit right now, wait until the spring.

If you haven't already, read the newbies section. If you have read it, you might want to re-read it. It is chock full of information. If you don't know what a DV is, you REALLY need to read (and re-read!) it. The information there is very educational and based on the experiences of a lot of people over a long period of time.
