I haven’t posted in the Student Loan forum before, but I just wanted to share and give encouragement to those who are thinking about rehabbing or just started.

I just made my 12th and final rehab payment. Overall it was a positive experience. I had to call and speak to a specific person on the 1st of every month to make my payment, no exceptions. (I could have mailed my payment, but I still would have to personally call my rep on the 1st anyway.) The lady that I dealt with was so nice that I almost looked forward to making the call.

In two weeks I will receive the documents from the new lender for the remainder of my loan. I was already told who that will be and I am satisfied with the lender. I have dealt with them before and had nothing but good service, so that was a relief. It was recommended that I immediately consolidate my loans for a better interest rate before July 1st. Which, I will do. The gal I was working with already gave me the name and number of the person to call as soon as I get my new loan documents.

The media tape will be sent to all three credit reporting agencies at the end of April with the delinquencies removed and should be updated on my reports sometime in May. I can’t wait to pull that report.

It is such a great feeling to finally be making some progress.

I am not expecting much of a jump in my scores, but it will be nice to finally see some positive trade lines again.

Good luck to everyone that just started or are thinking about entering into the program! Hopefully it will go as good for you as it has for me.

Thank you so much for posting the good - I am just now getting started on my 12 month rehabilitation. I have learned so much from this boards. I lurk more than I post. I have a very old student loan and I just set up payment arrangements of $130 per month. Which I will pay on time before I pay or do anything else. Those student loans are killers on a credit report. I honestly wish I had address the issue sooner and not put it off - my mistake. Thanks again - it gives us hope. I am going to start a calendar to count down the 364 days left until my loan is rehabilitated. Something to look forward to and seeing that new credit report smile.gif blush2.gif
