I just received my weekly scorepower report and it went down 19 points! This is related to an open/delinquent account(NJHEAA) that I have been disputing as has been paid through wage garnishment. They just added another credit line, but I am unable to see a new line and I just ran a new report! Anyone know how I should approach this now? I cannot believe that they will not let this die. I had this paid for over a year already and the original loans are almost at their 7 year marks.

Can someone with some solid advise give me some good feedback please as I am totally lost as what to do now.

Last week 677/645/648
This week 677/626/648

Now I am too frightened to do a 3 credit report.

How about doing nothing? The TL will not drop off of your CR until it's been PAID for seven years, as that is the DOLA. But if you continue to dispute it, you can end up with worse scores. You may not like the way it looks, but SLs don't cave like other TLs do.

What I am disputing is the fact that it states that it is unpaid. That is the unfair part, since it has been paid.

So you'd rather it read "Paid through garnishment"?????

You should contact the creditor who's reporting it instead of the CRA. At least then you could ask them to change it, but I assure you, it will have a negative impact on your score yet again.

Okay, now I am seriously lost. I seriously do not understand this. So an open, unpaid account is better for your credit than a paid account through any method? I am not trying to be smart, I really am lost as to how all of of this works.
