Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I lucked up and found this site. Wish I would had know about it a week ago. First let me explain my situation. I defaulted on my student in 1992. The loan is held by USAFuding and the CA is GS Services. I was being garnished until November 05, then it stop. Last week I got a call from the CA stating I still owe about 16, 000. I was put on the rehab program. May 3rd, they drafting 150.00 for down payment (which they told me they need in order for me to rehab) and starting May 25th, my first payment of 130.00 each month.

After reading this board I found out they couldn't ask for a down payment. Correct?
I called the CA today and asked for a supervisor, he explained to me that they're not apart of DOE and they can ask for a downpayment. He was very rude and hung up in my face.

My next concern is since I'm currently back in school and my defaulted SL do not show on any of my 3 CR should I consolidate or rehab?

Thanks in advance!

Well they can ask for it....nothing wrong with than. However a down payment is not required to rehab. If you agreed to it, you may be stuck with it.
