OK I have asked this question before but searching and reading on past peoples experiences still leaves me a little confused. I have an account with my previous school (see below). It was late and sent to a Lawyer BUT the accoutn was never reported CLOSED by the School just in collections, I recently brought the account current and below is what happened. I have 2 open accounts 1 in collections 1 that is current/was a collection. This acocunt started to report this way BUT in collections TWICE last month. I figured I would give it a bit and see if it worked itself out. THese accoutns ar reporting with the same Account number and information just that one is updated that I am now current. THis is a Direct Private loan from a Private School,

From Reading I have seen that this may be reporting correctly BTU I also read that most of the time these accounts would be closed 1st then report as on collection one open account. I was thinking of calling my School to see if they could correct this BUT 1st I wanted to see if the experts had any feelings on this???Should I even waste my time???? I really appreciate any help you can give on this. I did search BUT most of the threads I saw on this subject were for accounts that were reporting as closed not OPEN...THank you again in advance for an insights you can give me it is truly appreciated smile.gif

Are the account numbers the same? SL lenders have been changing account numbers from SSNs to non-personal numbers.

I would appreciate help with this as well. I have a student loan that does the exact same thing with PHEAA. I just emailed the CEO this morning and I am going to send this letter in the mail as well. It's reporting twice on Experian. The only difference between the loans are some late days, and the status of one loan says Transferred and the other one says Closed. So annoying.

I finally got EX to delete the duplicate after 9 months. The reason I used, I lie to you not was "This is a duplicate for the 6th damn time". It was gone by the next day!
