I have a loan thru DLS that I had "charged off as bad debt" on in 2001. In 2003 I started making payments again (directly to Direct Loans). No mention was made of rehab, and really, they didn't contact me about it...I just got a decent job and made a few substantial payments, then have paid the regular amount ever since.

On a 07/04 copy of my TU report, the tradeline for this showed a positive account, paid or paying as agreed, and "in prior 7 months from last update never late"

Then , on a 10/04 copy of TU, it instead shows as an adverse acct, still paid or paying as agreed, but then "on prior 24 monthes from last update 11 times 90 or more days late" I disputed this at that time as never late, and the info remained.

I just pulled Tu again in 01/06, and it is still showing adverse, still paid or paying as agred, but "with 21 late payments of 90+ days in the last 48 months"

HELP! i have made regular payments, never late, sice 12/03, but they keep reaching further back in time to add late payment info from years ago. Why do they have to add this now, when it was no there in 07/04?

I have not disputed it this time, yet, just trying to get your best ideas about this. Thanks for all your help!

Once a loan defaults and the claim is paid, it stays negative unless you rehab it. Even though payments are made regularly, the loan is not in good standing. It is still a government claim. Have you ever talked to them to see if your payments qualify for rehab??
