My son and I went to see the doctor on 1/2/04. My company had just changed insurance carriers and I did not have our cards, but I did give them my new insurance info. I also took the cards in about 3 days later when my son had his follow-up. My son has asthma so he sees the doctor often, I do not. In fact, I neverhad to go in to see the doctor again.

In April of 2004, I received a bunch of bills stating that I owed them because of no insurance. I had to point out that they were billing the wrong carrier. For the next few months, we went back and forth until the bills were all straightened out or at least that is what I thought.

A month ago, I received a letter from a collection agency saying that they were representing my former doctor and that I owed them this money. I contacted the CA right away to dispute this and they said that they would contact my old doctor's office. I called the doctor's office and was told that the lady that handles the bills was on vacation. However, the ofice manager pulled my files and discover that not only had they been billing the wrong insurance company but also that instead of being my son's bill, this was mine. They also said that they never had my insurance information (The only problem with that is his and mine are the same, my soc. sec. # which was also my id #)

I contactED the insurance company that I had at the time and explained to them what had happened. They said that the doctor's office should submit the old claim to them and that they would take care of it. They just need proof that it was submitted in a timely manner, although to the wrong company.

The doctor's office no longer has that info as it was so long ago, but they were able to contact the insurance company that they had submitted the claim to and they are going to provide a copy of the denied claim. This should take another week or so.

In the mean time, I check my reports and the CA has put this collection on my reports!!!. I know I disputed well within the 30 days from when I received their collection notice. They have it down as in collections since 1/2004. The visit was in 1/2004 and also I found old copies of the bills that I have been going back and forth with the doctor's office to get them to submit to the correct insurance as late as 7/2005, so I know that it was not in collections.

I have been told by the insurance company that as soon as they receive this info they will pay the doctor and the doctor's office has said that they will then issue a check to the CA, but what can I do to get this completely off my report? I do not want this as a paid collection.

Why Chat
Send the CRA the "medical dispute letter"
You should also Opt Out to prevent this or anything else from resurfacing.

You dispute medical accounts this way:

Dear CRA,
My name is xxxxx xxxxxx , my SS # is xxx xx xxxx.
I am sending this dispute certified mail # xxxx to make sure you receive it.
I have no knowledge or records of account # xxxxx on my report # xxxxx.
Please advise me as to the name and address of the medical provider, the date and type of service, and to whom the service was provided.
If you can obtain this information, I also would need the name of the person providing this data, and the manner in which it was provided in order that I may pursue additional legal remedies.
Very truly yours,

xxxxxx
Make sure you HAND ADDRESS the envelope, use personalized stationery and purple or teal font, ( preferably italic).

DO NOT send it RR
