I have no advice for you, but for others, THIS is the reason why I suggest NOT disputing lates. It can and usually does end up biting people in the backside.
TxQuiltGirl, you wouldnt even dipute the lates even if the dates within them is wrong??????? I didnt dispute as NOT MINE nor never late...they were late and I know this I dont dispute this at all I am willing to take the hit for the 2 accounts that were late.....The information I was looking to get verified ws the dates of when the actual delinquency happened only as they were being reported incorrectly, they were reporting 9/2000-11/2000 when I was in school full time and Nelnet was reporting this....If it was being reported incorrectly shouldnt we dispute as the SL company would "verify" this info.........
You disputed because the DATES of the lates were wrong. And look what that got you. A bigger mess. How did that help you?? And even if you didn't dispute with all three CRAs with the new electronic updating, they all are supposed to receive the same data.
You haven't really been around that long. You should read up on things like disputing lates and understand ALL the possible scenarios before you proceed. Because sometimes when you dispute things as insignificant as the DATE of a late on a loan, you can do yourself far more harm than good. Those lates from 2000 were having a minimal impact on your scores - and they would have fallen off next year. But instead of "leaving well enough alone" you disputed the date of the SL lates and now you've lost 39 points AND added a lot more negative info to your accounts. When you dispute something like the date of the late payment, it opens the entire TL up to scrutiny. Nine times out of ten, on a dispute like you filed, it comes back way worse than it was before it was disputed, which is why I always recommend against messing with something like you messed with.
Were I you, I'd leave it alone before it gets worse.
