Hey gang,

I have 4 loans in default - Sallie Mae is the originator, Texas Garuntee is the garuntee agency. I've been contacted by Windham Professionals for collections. I'm keen to Rehab this month but I've heard bad things about these guys. They're using lots of intimidation tactics, harassment, threats, ect.

1. Is there anyway to get TG to call back the loan and rahab through them or am I stuck with WP?
2. Could the Omnibudsman help with this?
3. Also aren't there several ways to have loans forgiven such as being a teacher, healthcare worker, peace corp service, ect?
4. If I qualify for any of those can they help in removing negatives from the CR? Anybody ever done this? Can it help with negotiating with Sallie Mae?

Thanks guys!

You are stuck with them.
2. Could the Omnibudsman help with this?
Only if you have tried to work this out with them. You say you have heard bad things about them....have you actually tried working with them?? Have you asked to rehab yet?? What do you term as threats? Garnishment?? That they can and will do.

This is from the DOE site. It sounds like the teacher program is no longer. http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/stu...sp?tab=repaying
As for the Peace Corp, if your loan was current you would only be eligible for deferemnt.

You are stuck with the tradelines unless you rehab. Even then with rehab, only the Texas tradeline is adjusted.

Thanks guys!

Thanks Lynn,

Well, aside from being obnoxious on the phone. They've made outright lies about what they can do. Even when confronted they refuse to back down and continue to dictate terms. From what I've found on a few google searches this isn't uncommon behaviour for them. Looks like some folks have had even more trouble with them.

Is it possible to contact one of the other CA's that have contacted me last year and go through one of them? They seemed a lot more aggreeable, at least on paper. I am so fed up with these guys being obnoxious.

What are they lying about??? Have you offered to make payments or submit a financial statement so a pan can be set for you?? Have you asked for rehab or anything else??
