Full Version: SAME ACCOUNT REPORTING TWICE

I have gone round and round with AES to have my accounts reporting correctly. I have TWO accounts but they are reporting one account TWICE but with different account numbers, one with an account number, the other with mt SS#. I have called them, written them, talked with them via on-line chat and EVERY time they say they will fix it but they do not. The account that is reporting twice has a $23,000 balance. I am sure this is not helping my credit score even though it has been paid on time always. What do I do?

If these are both reporting as positive, they are not hurting your scores at all. However, I can understand wanting it to report correctly. Try talking to a supervisor to see if you can get this straightened out.

You don't think it is hurting my score? The account with my SS# only shows "opened" 6/2000, reported 2/06. It doesn't show a "payment" for every month between then and now like the one with the account #, but they both say "open"

No, I don't think it's hurting your score. Unless there is something NEGATIVE in the reporting, it's not HURTING your score. Doesn't matter if it shows a payment every month or not. If there are no late pays and no negative notations, it won't hurt you.

Okay, thanks so much. I will just leave it alone for now. There are no negatives, always paid on time....

I've got the same problem. It appears AES may have changed the account numbers in Nov or Dec. Before the change I had 2 accounts, now I'm showing a 3rd which is duplicate. I contacted AES they basically said contact CRA, contacted CRA they basically told me to contact AES.

right now I'm at a stand still

It may not hurt my credit score, but it definitley will affect my debt to income when my broker pulls for my mortgage next month

Even then it should not be a big deal. All you have to do is show that the TL is a duplicate line. And you're right - all the SL lenders are moving away from using the SSN as an account number.

And it's about time for that.

So, I guess that means I get 15 new tradelines and a split EQ and TU from the size of my file.

Joy.
