My Wife Signed up to take online classes with AIU. She never reicieved her books and didn't not take the final for the First Quarter, Because they kicker her out of class for not making her payments. We Explained that until they did there part that we were not going to Pay for Something we were not recieving Now AIU as well as Direct loan Services are comming after her for the money? Do I have any Recourse or Am I Stuck with this Debt???

Your contract with the school is totally seperate from financial aid. You are legally responsible to Direct Loans regardless of what happened at the school. The school has the legal right to kick her out for non payment. Why didnt she get the books? Did you make any payments to the school???

Yes 2 payments were made. But we never recieved her Books. We told that that we were not Going to Continue to Pay unless Their end of the Contract was upheld. Then they Discharged her. and she couldn't get back on line.

Being that she was withdrawn. Does this mean that AIU can keep the money they Got from The Department of Ed, and we still have to pay it back. Even thought no credit hours were completed. She didn't even take the Final of the First Semester

Did they give you a reason for not receiving the books?? Most schools you have to buy your own thru the bookshop. Where they actually responsible for sending them? Or were you suppose to order them.

Depending on how far into the semester she was, yes they can legally keep all the money. If she was dismissed after a no refund date, she would be responsible for all charges. It is part of the school contract.

Yes they can keep it. See above.
