This is a wonderful board! Hopefully, I will be able to harness some of this information to increase my scores even more.

thank you all site owners and mods here. This site is a god-sent and I am so glad that i found it. I now feel a level of empowerment that I have never had regarding my financial future.

Hello. I've been reading the boards for quite a while now and wanted to start posting so I thought I'd stop by here first!

Hello
I found this forum through a reference from a friend
I have found much useful info so far
sunshine9924
This is my first post. I found these boards through a post on Prosper. I read around a lot yesterday, and today I'm posting. What I see so far is invaluable information and a very supportive community.

I applied for an account at Kay Jewlers yesteraday, and to my surprise was approved for a $1500 account limit. That's higher than any of my credit card limits to date! I have to go check which CRA they pulled, but my scores are around 560.

I am glad to have found a community such as this and I hope that I can learn and, in turn, help others learn and bounce back as well.

For the Kay Jeweler account - they pulled TU and the score is 566.

Does anyone know how I can add this to the credit pulls database?

New here. Compared to other sites, yours seems to be more informative as to the why/how of things. Additionally, you seem to have a clearer vision of what is real regarding the FCRA/FDCPA laws as they are written (including how to effectively use them). Given all the bad press about debt repair shops, internet fraud and the like, knowing the premise upon which something is based helps to alliviate that uncomfortable feeling in the back of ones mind.
One thing though, some of the introduction stuff (Newbies) is real old and the links either no longer work or take you someplace I do not think you originally intended. For example, I read through the whole BBee's story (under if you've been sued) only to be left wondering what happened in the end. Worst yet, the ending link was back to this site and low and behold it no longer existed here. Some of the validation info over at creditinfocenter is incorrect. You, seem to address validation correctly here (why_chat letters and case by case responses) but I think you need to relook at using some of these outside references and updating your introduction section. Again, I have found this site to above the rest so keep up the good work. I don't know how your able to put so much into it but you should be commended. WVDave

When those things are discovered, please let one of us know so that we can fix it. Things move from time to time.
Please accept our apology for the inconvenience.

I'm also interested in that area as well. There's one post (humblemarc's post) that I found very helpful:

QUOTE
CRAs "verify", they don't "validate".
CAs "validate" they don't "verify"

It's an important difference and confusing the two in reading or writing a thread could lead to sending the agency the wrong type of letter.

Please be careful . .

other than that I look forward to learn more as I go along.

I have a tiny complaint, though~ why aren't my posts showing up? Is there a reason I have to wait for mods to approve my posts for a day or so? My post number says 2 but only one showed up.

help?

When you are new to CB, your first few posts are moderated, so there may be a dealy between when you post them and when they actually show up. Use "my assistant" to find your own posts - it's white text link - top right, on the blue background just under the red bar.

Also, take a peek at "my controls" - you can set it so you get an email when someone replies to your posts. click "options" top right in each thread, and select "track this topic" - look around, there's lot of stuff to help you keep track of what you're doing. You even have your own notepad in your personal control panel.

You can find your own stuff by clicking on your name, and other people's stuff by clicking on their name.

I am brand new,..been reading and reading for the last 24 hrs or so, got my 3 reports done last night, started a folder with printed info from here (thanks), all 3 reports are in the mid 600's, so I do have some work to do to get 3 baddies off my report. I am so glad I found the site,..enjoying it and already appreciate the hard work of others to make this easier for me,..great site.

I am going to start with removing old addresses first, then old employers and then go after the 3 negatives,.working hard to buy a house maybe in 08 or 09.

WOW! I've gone from knowing virtutally nothing about how to handle our problems, to having everything I need pretty much at my fingertips, all due to the wonderful efforts of the folks who host this board, and the fantastic and tireless efforts of everyone contributing!

THANK YOU doesn't begin to say enough for all your great work!!!

Now, as soon as I get paid and can get my CRs, we'll be off and running with you all. I'm sure that I will have lots of questions.... wink.gif

Hello All,

Newbie here. I've been so caught up in reading the boards and doing searches I haven't had time to properly introduce myself. I'm happy to have found you guys. I've already had tremendous improvement to my scores but I have a just a few problems on each CRA report that I am working on. I'll kepp reading and will probably have questions in the near future. Until then thanks for all of the great info and knowledge.

Hi all,
I stumbled upon this vast wealth of knowledge the other day while i was at work cool.gif and have already learned about many things that i had not considered. This is by far the best credit info resource i have seen to date. Keep up the good work.

Hello to All

In my quest to conquer this credit demon, I stumbled upon this site. I started reading and I am ready to attack. Sword, check. Shield, check. Iron Speedos, check. Nikes, check.

Well, on my own I have raised my score about 35 points (avg of 3). My best fried texted me yesterday and told me his Experian is 813!!!! I'm on a mission now!

Hello,

This site is great I read about it in Kiplinger and came to the forums. I plan on increase me and my Wife's scores so we can purchase our dream home in about 6mo - 1yr. Thanks

I posted a comment on a topic I started about an hour ago, and still not showing up in the forum. Is there any reason it's taking a long time, or was my post not in accordance with the TOS here? How many posts does it take before my posts are not scrutinized?

When you are new on CB your first few posts are moderated. Usually it doesn't take long, but occasionally there can be a hold up - it doesn't mean you did something wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it won't be long, really. smile.gif

Thanks for the info Breeze. I'm not unfamiliar with messageboards, as I'm part of quiet a few others involving sports that I participate in. Never seen this type of precaution before, so just wanted to ask about it.

We're a pretty high profile site, apparently, attracting lots of spammers and bad guys. You never see them, though, or only if they're very slick, and the mods are very tired. laugh.gif

Hi All,

I just happened to be searching credit information and found this site. Absolutely full of information!!!

A few years ago I had a credit rating exceeding 740. I went through a year in hell because I lost my job and then had to pay off all of my debt. I sold my properties and paid of all of my debt (just a few were settled) and moved from the east to west coast for a new start. Today I have a rating of 657, which is improving from month to month. I have no idea how low it went at its worst, but I am sure it was bad.

I have things that need to be cleaned up in my credit reports (three collections) and I will be concentrating on them using the information presented here. Going through this site should be required for a high school diploma!!!

i'm new here after scouring anything on the net about finances, fico, credit cards, etc.

i'm a little bit of a newb to credit seeing as 2007 was my first year getting approved for store cards miraculously after graduation. i'd been preyed on my last yr of high school and gotten something, but now it's not even on my report. in any case, i'm hoping to straighten stuff out using info here, so cheers!

Hi all, just found the site and looks like lots of good info. I saw a new commercial tonight for FREETRIPLE.COM and wondered if anyone knows anything about them. I used to get TRUECREDIT but found out the scores are FAKO and was going to sign up for MYCREDITKEEPER but saw they are fakes too from posts on here. It looks like FREETRIPLE is owned by PRIVACY MATTERS but they don't list any fees or costs so I'm a little wary of them. Thanks in advance for any help

Well okay, here I am, I think. Posting to this new forum. It sounds like everyone is happy within this venue.

I am brand new to forums so your patience with me would be much appreciated.

It sure is a weird time (weird is really the most suitable word I can think of) for wanting to borrow money, even a scary time. It's even a weirder time to engage in purchases that require borrowing on credit. Things seem so uncertain to me. Can anyone remember a time when the economy was is such uncertain times as it is now? Or is it me that feels it that way? I can't remember a time when real estate wasn't a great investment, not that it isn't now, but it's just seems like a weird time to buy or sell. I have no confidence in the market, not even in Boomtown City USA, Las Vegas, NV. There are forclosures all over the place, and that seems a bit scary to me.

I would really like to know how confident you all are to borrow money during uncertain times like now? Should I just be concentrating on how to raise my credit score for now? I'm hopping to clear up some of those medical bills that seem to slide right through the cracks and onto my report, and it's not that I couldn't afford to pay them, it's just when you think you medical insurance company should pay them, then they don't and by then they've been sent to some collection company you have never heard of. In this day and age, why would I even pay a company that I didn't recognize anyway for a bill I owed from years ago from some lab I don't even remember going to. I would like to know how better I can manage medical bills, to keep them from going to collection.

Well thanks for letting me in. Look forward to some great conversation.

Hey I have been on Credit Boards awhile. Never posted. All of the information I received has helped.

Take care

hello smile.gif

New here, joined when I got a notice saying a collection account showed up on my credit bureau after a solid year of busting my butt trying to increase my credit scores after a divorce. He got everything - I got my piece of mind and freedom... and all the debts.

Paid the last of the debts off in Feb 07 and have been playing it safe ever since.

This new account really galvonized me into wanting to aggressively clean up my credit and not just sit back and "let time take it's course"

It looks like the only thing keeping my CC score down is the paid off C/O's (some are reported as Collections/Paid and others as C/O or Paid After Collections)

I'm doing my research now to see how and if I can address these to get them off my report as well as following some other awesome advice I've found by looking through the newbie area and reading PsychDoc's series.

Thank you so much for starting and maintaining this site! It's really nice to find a place that gives you back a sence of "control" over your credit life

Hi all and thanks for being here! I'm new and found your forum doing a search on credit repair. I have been stressed for months and I'm several months behind on all of my cc's. Most are in collections now. I have had to deal with some really tough CA's. The worst is NCO LOL They call my cell phone at least 20 times a day. Every 20 minutes they call it and I don't answer. I'm about ready to answer with a bull horn LOL Anyway, I'm new and just wanted to say hi and thanks! I really have NO idea how to even start fixing the mess I'm in, but I'm going to try! rolleyes.gif

Hello and Happy Holidays to all! I am obviously brand new to this board and am certainly looking forward to taking advantage of all the knowledge within. A little about my current situation more for benchmarking than any other reason. I took BK7 in October of 2003 and have been battling back ever since. Unfortunately, I was not aware of this mechanism for assistance as I am sure it would have sped the recovery along.

As of 12/19/07 CRA scores are as follows:

TU: 593
EX: 612
EQ: 613

Source: mycreditkeeper.com

Looking forward to the increase! biggrin.gif

Hi Everyone!

Learned about this site through the December '07 issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine (p 79).

Fortunately I haven't had terrible experiences with credit, but have inherited some very bad saving and spending habits from one parent, who has also borrowed a lot of money from me and shows no interest in repaying it despite reminders, etc.

Just want to develop good habits, responsibility and knowledge in these matters. Have ordered credit reports in the past, but not done so recently. I order them online, and the last time I did so, the score never arrived in the mail; it may have been a scam website.

I know we're entitled to check with each bureau once a year for free, but that actually getting the official score still costs money- if anyone has a good site to recommend for ordering credit scores, please share it.

Thanks!

Hello, biggrin.gif

I'm new here and wanted to say that I wish I'd known about these forums 3 years ago. I didn't think it was possible to restore your credit once it's damaged, but after reading some of the posts here I see that with hard work and preserverance, it can be done. I don't know what my credit score is but I know how to find out. All I know is that it's not good..LOL. I'm looking forward to learning what I wish I knew back when I was stressed out from all the collection agencies threatening me and calling me everyday. To the administrators, THANK YOU!
