Has anyone ever PFB'd the dept of ed?? How long did it take for them to respond? Or did they even respond at all?
Cynic
ED won't PFD.

You may be eligible for rehab if the loan is defaulted. Ask them.

Department of Ed follows federal law which state that student loans report factually.

I think the OP was referring to "Planet Feedback" ("PFB") and not "Pay For Delete" ("PFD").

I'm not sure if anyone has done that or if they'd even respond. My guess would be that they wouldn't. I have written to them directly and, on the positive side, they did respond. On the negative side, it was pretty obvious from their response that they didn't really read my letter, but it was something! I think that you write to your regional office, though, so it might not even be the same department where you'd be writing.

Are you looking to write a goodwill letter (those don't work with them at all) or is it a specific issue? If you post your question here, someone may be able to help you or at least tell you who you should contact.

Good luck!! Hope this helps!!

Ziggy, you have a great eye:)

ED will not respond to PFB.

If you sent them a letter about a Direct Loan you probably got one of their form letters back. They have provided their servicer with quite a collection.

You know how Lynn and I keep saying student loan holders don't like to send certain things in writing? They actually usually expressly forbid their employees from sending free-form letters. In fact, anything that can't be sent in a pre-approved form letter would usually have to first be approved by their legal or policy counsel.

Exactly!! This is why CA's in particular will not communicate in writing on student loan accounts. Our clients would not allow anything official on our letterhead. It also was extrememly time consuming.
