I just saw on my equifax credit watch that I have a collections for over $600 for what I believe is a blood test I had from a physical last year. I did not have my insurance card with me so I had to fax my information to the lab after the fact. I did it, never heard from anyone again, never gave it another thought.
Well, last night when I checked my credit I saw this collection on my report - I never recieved anything in the mail from this collection agency, I have never recieved a bill, nada.
I am very familiar with the validation process as I have cleaned up my credit over 200 points. My credit was completely clean up to this point after all the work I did. What is my best course of action here? Should I deal directly with the lab and my insurance company? (Incidentally I work for the insurance company in question.)
Or am I better just playing hard ball with validation/1-2 punch? I am soooo pissed about this. With all the other removals I got, I shouldered some of the blame. I did nothing to make this happen and it is quite legitamately something I am not responsible for. This is going to kill my score and there is no way I am going to pay this.
Help?
