Full Version: Student Loans Partial Payment ...

Chase in the Citi
Hi everyone,

This is my first trip to this forum, the credit forum has been awesome BTW good.gif good.gif

I have student loans in deferrment (this will make the last deferrment that I am entitled to) The payments that Sallie Mae wants are going to be too high for me to afford -- hopefully I can do some kind of economic hardship in order to overcome this.

The deferrments end in July, I would like to pay some toward the loans before they become due (partial payments of whatever I can afford.)

My questions are:

How can I be assured these payments are applied to my account properly (assuring me proper credit for the payments)? My bank keeps the original checks, but allows me to see copies online.Would these copies copies be considered sufficient in Sallie Mae's eyes?

Will these partial payments submitted prior to my deferrment ending report to the Credit Reporting Agencies against me in any way ie: they presently report as Deferred, Pays As Agrees. Will this change ?

The reason I have not called Sallie Mae for the answer is that I have had major problems getting answers from them that are not conflicting from CSR to CSR, even at the supervisor level. I spent months and months regarding another matter and even had to get the Department of Education involved for a satisfactory answer let alone a resolution. Needless to say, Sallie has left a bad taste in my mouth

Thank you in advance.

Perhaps I was a little too harsh in my previous post --

I do have a number for Sallie Mae Corporate Legal (like hens teeth to get.)

Made the call this morning, and am very pleased with the help received !

"Emily" actually took time to unhurriedly giving accurate answers to my originally posted question, as well as great tips, and options to my other pressing issues!

This really makes my day, and even more!

If anyone would like further information I am more than happy to help, as phone numbers and extensions seem so very hard to find.
