Okay here is the situation. I have a student loan that I was late paying on for about 8 months. I shouldn' t say late I just didn't pay it like a idiot but anyway. I have since become current and have been for about 10 months now. Reading other post from people here and on other forums, I decied to write a good will letter and then I went a step further and called Sallie Mae, really with no luck on the phone call got shut down and didn't get anything resolved. I never did hear back from the letter I wrote company holding the account now. Southwest Student Services. I got a letter in the mail and this is what it said.

Okay now my question is this. I talked to my lender yesterday and she made the point of asking me if they are going to wipe the accounts clean or are they going to say they rechecked the information and we found no inaccuracies?

And what can I do about this?

This sallie mae loans have been sold or transffered. It just got sold and the new company is taking over full payment history and showing lates. They can't do that right. They only got the account in October-November and they are showing lates back in 05. what can I do?

Thanks for any response
LynnInMN
Southwest Student Services IS Sallie Mae. Just a different servicing division. You lates will stay.

Not to be rude or anything, but you didn't make a payment for EIGHT MONTHS. We've had people here who were late by only a few days get slapped with a 30 day late notation and not be able to get it removed; did you really think that SM would respond differently?

<expletive deleted> TxQuiltGirl calm down, the fact of the matter is yes I didn't pay them because my business was going south. Since that time I pulled my panties up and believed in myself and what I was doing and in 05 I made more money than I ever had before. It was just at that time I was struggling and what do you do pay your school loan or but food on the table for you and your pregnant wife and three kids. When things started turning around I paid them all past due in one payment and have never been late since. And after reading this and other sites I mailed them a goodwill letter and this is what I got. Sorry for the large text but that was my first post here it should be easy to read it clearly states that they are going to retract the information. Maybe you should read more before you post questions that have the answer in the text of message.

First of all, it's not really a good idea to get on the bad side of the forum lead in your THIRD post. SO I would suggest that you be the one to calm down and back up. The blasted text is so large in your original post that it's very difficult to read. I'll fix that for you.

Secondly, do NOT cuss on my board; it's against the TOS - maybe you need to go read them, cause you're in violation.

And finally, I'm not really sure why posted this at all if you got what you wanted. Personally, I don't know that anything on your CR will change, since you were admittedly not paying for eight months; SM said they will not change accurate information. Based on what you said, the info that was reported is accurate. IMO, you got a form letter that is vague for a reason.
Q
They will more than likely retract the original Sallie Mae TLs, if they are still reporting. As for the lates, per the letter they are only going to remove anything that is inaccurate. Per your OP the lates are supposed to be there, and if thats the case, the new TL with the new SL servicing division will continue to report the existing slow pay entries.

With SLs, only one way to get rid of lates/deliquency entries and thats rehab. Otherwise Federal student loan servicers have no mercy on you.

Quilty is the Forum lead for this forum. It is advised you respect her posts or she will snap.

Q
I did respect her post and the <expletive deleted> was like the hoover dam if you know what I mean. I could understand if I said something different but whatever. She may be the forum lead but to get respect you have to give respect and by starting out your post by saying "not to be rude or anything" is starting as a crack back and not a response. LynninMN wrote just a easy response would of liked a little more on why she thought that but whatever. This forum, I thought was to be helpful not to get cracked on by Forum Leaders.

The reason why I posted the question because I thought I had gotten something positive to dispute on my report and I wanted to know if anybody else had gotten this letter and if they got some late removed. that's all the rest of this totally unwanted by myself.

I'm not cracking on you; you don't like what you're hearing, though, I can see that pretty clearly. Whether or not you respect me personally is not the issue here. If you have read as much as you claim to have read here and elsewhere, you would know that Sallie Mae is very anti-goodwill, particularly in a case such as yours.

You did not make payments for eight months; I'm willing to bet you didn't request forebearance during that time either, and you probably didn't contact them at all. Again, that's not a "crack" it's a comment based on what I myself and others have done when things get rough. But I really don't know why you think that SM would consider deleting the information that was reported correctly.

I'm thinking that what they're going to "retract" will be the duplicated lines ... the lines that were being reported by SM but have now been transferred to Southwest, since they are a division of SM. The remaining lines will have the exact same history as they do now.

And again, in future, it will be helpful to lose the attitude and think that anyone's "cracking" on you; I know that when it comes to finances, people tend to take things very personally, but you're going to have to grow a thick skin about this stuff. While we tend not to be judgmental here, student loans are not something to mess around with, and I and others will definitely point out where the mistakes were made, if for no other reason than in the hopes that others will not make similar mistakes.

Good luck.

Quilty comes off rough like that by keeping it real. She really meant no harm, trust me. But overall, she runs the show over here. I am just an a guest crashing the party. The Forum Leads are governed by the Admin, so they are only doing what they are told, which is to uphold the TOS of the board.

Nah bruh, that letter is a conflict in itself. You could sit tight and see what heppens in 4 weeks, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Student loan issuers have no mercy except the one opportunity to go through that rehab program. I am not sure you qualify now that your loans are no longer diliquent.

We all cool now?? Cool! cool.gif

Now I'm gonna bounce before Quilty gets back... bye1.gif
