Full Version: who is ACS/STU LOAN FUND RESC?
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans
Ben
There is this TL in my Experian report which shows as "potentially negative item". I cannot see anything potetially negative. This student loan account was originally with AFSA in 2001, then it was sold to SallieMae in 2002, which is reported current by Sallie Mae as well. There was no late payment or any problem with this loan. Suddenly it was updated in Nov. 2005, and Experian says potetially negative. I sent a letter to the address given by TL (501 Bleecker St, Utica, NY 13501), but I did not received anything back, nor did they change anything. I want to write to the executive office of this organization but I am not sure who exactly they are. Does anyone know who they are and tell me the address if s/he has it. Thanks.

This is how it reports in my credit report:

Have you been current on your SLs? Did you do a consolidation? Was your loan sold for any reason?

I'm not sure what's going on here; we need background on your history with the SL.
Ben
I looked at all my paperwork for this loan. Early paperwork is from AFSA data corporation stating that they are providing service for FIRSTAR BANK, the owner of your loan (2001). I have no idea about how it is transfered but, in 2002 SalliMae started corresponding with me for the same loan, and sallieMae states that the loan is owned by Student Loan Funding, FBNA Trustee. Since 2001, I have never received any other letter or bill from AFSA. After graduating in 2003, following the grace period I staerted paying for the loan to SallieMae. It is always on time, and there is no problem with this loan, and SallieMae reports as current and never late so Experian, and others show report it in a good standing.
There was aslo this ACS/stu loan Fund Resc TL in my reports, but it used to report 2001 as the last reported date, transferred. Suddenly in November ACS updated the TL, as I posted in my original, and Experian says it is potentially negative. From my papers dating back to 2001, I have AFSA PO BOX7051 Utica, NY 13504. This city is also reported by experian as the address (501 BLEECKER ST, UTICA, NY 13501), but I received no response to my letter when I sent it there. So this AFSA obviously reporting under the name ACS, and somehow EXperian shows it potentially negative item. I am so confused about this. It is my understanding that ACS must be same as AFSA, which is messing up with my reports although they have nothing to do with the loan anymore.

Ben, this is what I have found about ACS.

AFSA-ACS is the billing agent for the Student Loan Office. Access your CBSL account information, such as Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing and Jack Student Loans held by the University of Rhode Island.

I dunno if you went to school @ the Univ of RI, but this information would make it appear to be a loan outside of your Sallie Mae loan; did you receive a Perkins loan by chance?
Ben
Thanks TxQuiltGirl. No, I was in Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin.
I just called the phone number and csr told me that it was sold to salliemae in 2001. I asked her why they updated now and why Experian is reporting negative, she said she had no idea because there is nothing negative. I also asked her what the problem was to update in november, and she said probably they reviewed the account, and no idea again. I asked the president address and name, and ofcourse she did not give me the name of the president, but gave me PO BOX 7051, UTICA NY. Then I asked her why I did not receive any response when I sent the letter Experian show, she said that is our physical address and they don't reply! Weird.
Anyone knows the president or CEO's name so that I can send a letter to directly to him or her?
