As soon as I graduated, I sent in my app for consolidation. This was at the end of May. I called to verify everything was in check and progressing. Fast forward to now--I have loans due to several places at over 5% interest. I owe over $300 this month on different days. Some I haven't even received a bill for, but when I called, I'm being told I owe money soon (this is to the place I consolidated aggressive.gif ).

I've sent messages and emails. I called again today, only to be told the consolidation dept is only open when I am at work. Most days I don't even have a break.

Their negligence is causing me to owe more money than I should and inconveniences. What can I do? These bills are due now, right at Christmas time.

That truly sucks. Have you checked the nslds database to confirm who has your loans right now? Maybe if they haven't been consolidated yet, you can request a deferrment extension, but really you should do something sooner rather than later.

I wish I could be of more help. sorry.gif

I understand what you mean, as I just TODAY received a letter from WF saying that my old loans had been paid off on 10/28 blink.gif (and all my previous loans WERE WITH WF) . I would probably do as Quilty says.

That or, call the places where your old loans were and/or take your fifteen minute break to call the consolidation people to try to figure it out.

I managed to call on my cell on my way home. They are sending a check tomorrow--which will make it a late payment! So I called AES back again, and they are giving me forbearance until it gets to them.

Then the company I consolidated with had to fix my interest rate (I hope it is anyway). It is still higher than expected; they claim all companies increase it some. The rate I was quoted in May is not the rate I'll be getting.

I wish I had consolidated with someone besides ISM. sad.gif

What rate were you quoted and what rate did you get? Understand that under Federal Rules for consolidation that all consolidated loans will have an initial rate that is on a 1/8 percentile.

I am sorry I do not really understand: are you saying that the way these work is that if the consolidator company you went with screws up and does not send it on time to the government you and your credit gets scewd?
