Full Version: SL's default need assistance

Hello, I am an American, living overseas. I have two student loans in default. I would like to get a handle on them if possible and would appreciate any assistance. Only thing I have gotten to date are a few demand letters from CA's (I assume) stating a balance due? Should I begin by asking for validation of debt to find out who has the notes, what is principle, what is interest and penalties? I would like to get an income sensitive payment schedule that takes into account that I do not make US dollars. Much less. At tax time in the US, I get foreign income exclusion via form 2555, so my adjusted gross income with the IRS works out to zero.

Thanks

Hi again, I tried to locate the loans using a link in the information section at the beginning of the forum.

Who has my loans: http://www.nslc.org/students/default.htm

It does not produce any results. Any ideas?

Thanks again for any assistance.
