I recently applied for a private student loan through nextstudent.com. I must say this experience has turned into a complete nightmare. After over a week of going back and forth with their customer service staff about the status of my loan and why I am getting approval e-mails but was not able to access the promissory note, they finally looked further into what the problem was. mad.gif

Apparently the person who took my application over the phone put an inccorrect social security number for me and later to find out they did the same thing with my co- applicant. Not only were the social security numbers wrong he also put the wrong school I will be attending and the wrong loan amount. mad.gif

In all this going back and forth they were requiring me to send them my social security card via fax so they can verify who I am, my ss # in order to correct the application. I did all of this only later to find out that they wanted my co-applicants social security card as well for the same reason. mad.gif

I kept on insisting that I get a number or address to file a complaint against the person/department that did the application but no one seems to really care or want to give up that info, nor would they allow me to speak with a supervisor. mad.gif mad.gif

So my question is what can I do? Who can I complain or report this to? This is a mess and it is ridiculous. I am beginning to wonder how (if they even did pull reports) they even pulled our credit reports to approve the loan with wrong social security numbers.

If anyone has any suggestion on how I should or can handle this I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

It was a clerical error. Mistakes happen. Problem was is that the OP did the app over the phone when she should done it online.

Gotcha. Thanks for the updated. It's easy to see how "over the phone" apps can get errors. I'm a fast typer myself, but if it weren't for the "backspace" key, I'd be in trouble. It's too easy to mis-key something.

I was just doing a search on NextStudent to see if they were reputable or not. Got something in the mail, so I did a search here to see what people were saying.
