I did a search but didnt really find what I was looking for.

I have a Visa check card.

Does the policy about asking for/showing ID's apply to these as well...

Everywhere I go almost EVERYONE asks to see it.

I made 4 purchases today and everyone of them asked for ID.

Just not quite sure since its not exactly a Credit card, but its a Visa. So I'm somewhat confused on this.

but here Visa states

don't know if it matters but are you using it as a debit card or a credit card? I would think no on both accounts since if you are using it as a credit card the merchant is taking it under Visa rules (is that right).

I've got my picture on mine and only one person has asked for my id because she was, as she put it 'out to lunch' and forgot my picture was on it.

I would assume its using it as a Credit Card since I sign for it instead of using it as an ATM w/PIN

I think Visa should be more clear on that. They are probably referring to showing ID for purchases of alcohol and tobacco products.

If your check card or debit card has the Visa logo on it, then it is a Visa card as far as Visa International is concerned.

See, again cut and paste the same info.

All I wanted to know was, does a Check card fall under VISA's Credit Card ID policy? Its a YES or NO answer.

Why would I show my ID when thats what the PIN number is for.

Every time I see an ID thread you ALWAYS post the same stuff.

I call it cutting and pasting since is ALWAYS the same thing no matter what.

That's nice to know you don't show your ID because your cards signed, over and over again... unfortunately sometimes thats not what the thread was about.

The short answer to the original question: YES

Visa Check Cards fall under the same merchant rules.
