Full Version: Excessive duplication of student loan listings...
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

Not even sure where to begin here.
By the way, I am posting this for my wife, as she does not have access to the internet.

Just pulled her 3 from privacywatch.com... the one she decided she wanted to use.

She has an old student loan (That we ARE paying on) listed... many times.

What's the procedure here for getting this corrected? Will the old "Duplicate" dispute work? I am not sure, as the dollar amounts are different on some of them.

Here they are, listed in no particular order:

You're sure it's only one loan? If she took a loan more than one semester, or took more than one tye of loan in a single semester, each loan is a separate entry. Looks like she consolidated two defaulted loans to me.
VerbalKint
No, we've been over all the paperwork that we have at the house, and its ONE loan.

She had defaulted on it in the past, but I've been on her to get it paid off.

One of them actually shows correctly, that its being paid as agreed. The rest are just different "stages" of the loan.

She didn't consolidate any loans, and didn't get multiple loans.. We are 100% sure of this.

There is definately two loans involved with this report, more than likely one stafford broken down into two dispursement.

A single loan CAN report multiple times over history. Say you have a Direct Loan. It defaults. You then go to USDOE collection service. Second TL. Then you consolidate. You have a brand new loan with a new TL. 3rd trade line. All legal.

You can try to dispute these TLs through the CRAs. Sometimes you have luck, sometimes not. I was able to get all but one of my defaulted loans through WF deleted off all of the CRAs.

Some people aren't so lucky, but that's where I'd start. Good luck.
