I just pulled a copy of my credit report (I'm a newbie). I consolidated all my student loans into one, but the ones that were "consolidated" still show up individually as more than 120 days past due. Do I write to the credit company and tell them they've been consolidated? How do I handle this? Thanks.

Legally these can still be reported. It will drop off with time. This is standard in student loan reporting. You can dispute them but most times they come back as verified that you were at some point 120 days past due. You can also try a goodwill letter to the creditor. Some have had luck...others not.

I just did the same thing and noticed the same thing. My Question is how long before they drop off?

Seven years or so.

I would encourage you to dispute them; the worst that can happen is they come back verified. I disputed my defaulted loans and got all but one TL deleted.

Can you dispute them if the lates were from 02 and they are currently deferred?
I don't really see that they would grant this since they currently aren't being paid on...

hmm. Guess I just answered my own question. smile.gif

You would dispute them through the CRA not the OC. You have a 50/50 chance of the lates being removed, no?

There are only two answers after all - yes or no. smile.gif
