Hello everyone,
I have been lurking here for a few weeks now, searching and getting myself re-acquainted with credit lingo and procedures. Through my searching I have been unable to find anyone with a situation similar to my own.
My college required cooperative work semesters where you work in your field of study mixed in with semesters of regular classroom studies. During one of my co-op semesters I was reported by my school to the government as having graduated. Because I returned to regular class work the next semester I was reinstated as a full time student according to the government. I was not aware of this until I received a copy of my credit report from Experian, which showed that at times I was in some cases 120days late for student loans that unknowingly went into repayment.
I carefully took the time to get documentation from my school as proof that I was a full time student (When on co-op you are still considered a full time student for financial aid purposes) I sent this proof to the US Department of Education as well as the two private loan institutions I used asking them to remove the negative information from all three credit bureaus. Almost two months later the information was finally removed from Experian and Equifax, but as I recently found out it has still not been removed from Transunion. I have written and contacted by phone the US Dept. of Ed to inform them of this yet they claim that they have removed all the derogatory marks on my credit reports even though they still remain on my Transunion report. I am unsure how to go about this any further. Is there a certain letter I should write? I am hoping to purchase my first home within the next year and would like to get this cleared up.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Funk......in a funk
