Call the Doctor or hospital billing department. Ask 1. How much do you owe? 2. When the date of service was? 3. Account number?

You really only need any two of the three for the HIPAA letter, but the DOS is important to know if you think it might be SOL.

IF THE OC TELLS YOU IT IS TOO LATE......that it has been turned over to the CA, do not argue, just tell them you are trying to make sure you have the proper dates and amounts so you can clear up the matter.

I have a similiar issue, I dont have an account number for my medical collection that aren't mine, and when I try to contact the Hospital, I'm informed that they have to research it and it would take about six to eight weeks to get any basic information.

Let the hospital do their investigation. If it is truely not yours then you will have proper cause to go after the CA, if it comes back as yours then you can immediately without delay PIF with the HIPAA letter.

Thanks Subprime I got the info I needed from the OC. Will send out a HIPAA with payment in the morning. I hope this works as it is reporting on all 3 with OSI being the CA.
