Okay, I have 4 medical Collections on my reports. The least being $69 and the largest being $1754. The smaller amounts seem to be reporting correctly and are due to fall off within about 9 months. They are all old bills from a pregnancy 7 years ago. The largest of them all ($1754) is listed as being placed for collection in 5/03 and according to TU, is scheduled to fall off in 2010. I never remember seeing this one before and I am positive that I've not received any services from the hospital that is listed on the account since my pregnancy in 98. I'm thinking they have added all the previous collections together to get the total and have re-aged the account.

My question is, If I dispute the $1754, how do I go about getting the actual dates of service to prove this is reporting incorrectly. Does the CA provide that or will the hospital provide that to me? Also, If I dispute it as "not mine" will this be clarified?

For my med collections, I wrote a nice letter to the billing dept requesting full account info, with dates of service and amounts owed. Got a reply just a few days later. Detailed each date of service/actual service/amoutn ins paid and balance sent to CA.
