DH has a medical collection on his credit report. I haven't touched it because we were in the process of buying a house and didn't want anything to happen. Now we have the house so I'm taking a look at it again.
It's from 2002 so it's still within SOL. I'm considering DVing the CA and hoping to get rid of it. But I'm scared of waking the sleeping lion.
WWYD? Take the chance or leave it alone for a few more years?

That large, I would either start sending payments to the OC or just let it sit for a few more years. That's assuming it is a private provider and government related which has no SOL. Of course, letting it sit and age, also depends on whether or not you will have a need for additional credit in the near future.

The minute you send in a payment, you will start the SOL clock over. You might want to let it sit. However an amount this large will not go un-noticed. You might want to have plans ready incase you get a summons.
