Hey everyone!
Has anyone also notice this in the Orlando, Florida area such as "Downtown Orlando" and or "International Drive area"? Nightclubs charging a "minimun" of either $20.00 to $25.00 in the public part of the nightclub and in the "vip area" minimun of $200.00(two hundred dollars) in order to pay with "any" credit card?
What nightclubs have done this to you?
This seems to be in my opinion, excessive and wreak less on behalf of either the nightclub manager and or owners, I'm sure they are well aware of the policys in place for credit card purchases.
I think these "minimuns" force people to drink more than they want or more than usual in order to pay using the credit card of their choice.

Then don't drink more then you should. Maybe you are paying for the need to be seen in the club not the drinks. I do think $200.00 door price is steep and if this is per person WOW you go to a very expensive club and should try some place other then Big Bucks Spend Here.

No one is FORCED to drink more.
Really, people should stop being convinced they must have a minimum charge to use a card.
If they say "I'm not buying any more or paying any more, and if you don't want to take my card you won't be getting paid and you'll be reported for violation," then that would convince them to stop demanding $25.

I will tell you a dirty little secret.....Nightclubs and bars are heavily scrutinized by MC/Visa. They pay higher rates than other "card present" merchants. Even in a card swiped situation, it is easy to do a chargeback, if you know what to say.
They will fine the hell out of them or revoke their account. MC/Visa has a low tolerence with these buinesses.

THEY "CAN" CHARGE THE CARD $25.00 IF THEY WANT...
BUT
WHEN YOU SPEND ONLY $5.00 THEY MUST ALSO POST A REFUND CREDIT FOR $20.00
or
RE-AUTHORIZE THE SALE FOR $5.00 (LIKE ADDING A TIP...BUT IN REVERSE)
