I actually found this Forum searching the internet for info on Lexington Law. Which I found all I needed, I was thinking about paying for their "services." I guess if you want to call it that.. after reading what one person posted about the kind of letters they are sending out! I did pay a local company to clean up my credit a little over a year ago, but the thing is, I paid for a full year, and after the first 2 or 3 months, NOTHING else came off. I was VERY happy the first month, when I saw 3 or 4 deletions, but after reading this board non stop since I found it, I will DEFINITELY be doing it myself!
I've been here for under a week, and already OPTed OUT, removed incorrect addresses from one CRA, disputed another, and the third didn't have any incorrect on there. I have also sent disputes out to the CRAs with correct address information. I hope I am successful.. I am already addicted to CB!

A friend told me that they had forums dedicated to credit and credit repair. With many reviews on different secured credit cards. So I searched and found this one to be the easiest to navigate.

I was referred here from another message board for people with questions on finances. I've been looking around for the past few days, and have major questions regarding about $50,000 worth of credit card debt we have, but I can't figure out where I'm supposed to post my questions? I've read the newbie stuff, but am still slightly confused.

Hello all!
I was refered to this site from another discussion board and have found a wealth of knowledge and information. Thank you all for setting up this site and keeping it running. It seems that a lot of people have been helped/guided by this site. Hopefully, I can accomplish as much as well.
I have just begun my journey in credit repair. I have mailed out letters for incorrect information on my credit bureaus. Next will come the the dispute and validation letters. I have been lurking here for some time and found some great information. Thank you all in advance for any help and answers for the questions I may have and I apologize in advance for any stupid/dumb questions.
Once again, thank you everyone. Good luck to all in the journey to better credit!

I have really bad credit, I had a "thing" with EDR a year ago and that pretty much ruined my credit.
I have gotton most of the creditors taken care of ( sure wish I would have found this site back then

)
I actually thought my only option was to just wait for time to drop the bads off of my reports........Did I say I was glad I found this sight??????
I have alot of work to do, but I am ready!!!

to be honest, I can't remember how I found this board. I just stumbled onto it. I'm so glad I found you guys, it's a major lifesaver. Some of the other boards I've lurked on, don't seem so friendly as this one. Within the last few weeks, I've opted out, had old/ incorrect addys and names removed and will be sending off my 1st round of disputes to the cra's.
I've disputed in the past numerous times with the cra's online, but their no longer allowing me to keep redisputing. So out comes the pencil and paper, lol. So much information in here to absorb, it's mind boggling, but I'm learning a lot! Now if only I can get reponses to my big mess posts in the forum, I'll be in the right direction. My mind is on overload at the moment.
Thanks to those who created and run a board such as this.

Are there scheduled times for live chat or is it just open? I did a search but couldn't find a schedule.
breeze
Feb 25 2006, 02:50 PM
No regular schedule. When we have something special, like a live seminar, it will show on the calendar, and we usually announce it ahead of time.
If chat is empty, and you want to invite people to meet you there, you can just post a message inviting people to come chat with you. If there are people already in chat, and you want to join them, just click on the link.
There are two rooms - one for serious questions about credit, and one for just being social.
Scroll down, near the calendar and birthdys, on the main forums index page - if there are people in chat, you can see their names. If no one is in chat, you don't see anything about chat.

I want to spill my guts. I know noone may ever really hear this, but I am so grateful for this site.
I found this site when it was mentioned on another site by a financial "expert" over there.
The past five years have been an absolute hell of guilt, terror and shame.
Five years ago, when I finished graduate school and did not receive the promised 200% INCREASE in salary,

saddled with MORE debt I began a downward spiral.
I couldn't face my family, my classmates, anyone who knew me from before. My family always expected me to "amount to" so much!
I felt like a total loser.

I couldn't even date, because any serious relationship would require me to divulge my financial history. Deep depression, thoughts of death, self-hatred, weight gain, giving up on life, thinking nothing would ever be good again, waiting for death -- example: This week at my shitty job, my heart started pounding -- I may have been overdosing on the iron I was taking. I was a little afraid, at first, but then I was like, "i'm not going to the emergency room. I'll just let it happen and hope it's a heart attack, not a stroke."
Until my premature first post here at CB and the support I have received. I realize this one area that I have screwed up in can be repaired. I have hope in life again.

I have not felt hope in five years, literally.
Thank you guys SO MUCH!

I've been a member for over a year and just realized I never posted how I found this board. I was trying to find out info on improving my credit and bought a lot of books at B&N to bring home and browse. I was going to keep the ones I thought most helpful and return the rest. CB was mentioned in one of them called I think, Your Credit Score. After visiting this board and seeing what I could learn here I returned all the books to B&N. It's been a great journey since. No book could have given me all that I have learned here. Thanks to all CBers, Mods and everyone else. As long as this board exists I will be here.

I now OWn my own home, something I thought I never would be able to and have a wallet and sock draw of CC's to boot.
I was a mostly CASH person and or RTO customer as my credit was so bad and I was embarrased and really knew nothing ab out it.
Then I had this to deal with:
MOTION TO SET DEFAULT JUDGMENT ASIDE AND STAY ENFOAnd thanks to Cb I was able to start standing up for my own Financial rights and learned a lot on that journey.

A "Law Firm on behalf of First Resolution" got a default judgment against my DH and attached our bank accounts. DH tried to call and work things out but the CSR (who claimed that he was an atty, which I now know is a violation) was SO mean, and abusive, it REALLY shook him. So much, that he bullied my DH into making monthly payments. We had like, NO money, and our credit was in the crapper, but seeing my DH so worried and in such despair, literally begging to have the hold lifted and scraping our pennies together get up those payments, made me furious! I told him something just didn't seem right and there had to be SOME way to fight back. SO I got on the web to look up First Resolution, and BANG! My life changed forever.
I found AoC first, and then followed the crowd over here. Armed with what I learned between the two, I learned that Lo and Behold, we DID have rights. Most importantly, I had support from people who had been where I was. I stopped being scared, which was great for me but REALLY bad news for the CAs and OCs and the CRAs!

I came out
swinging after 1st Res, and it's JDB "Law Firm" and believe me, they RAN!!!! Shortly thereafter many other big, bad CAs
and OCs got stung by my b*slapping cycle simply because they underestimated the power of an informed consumer. Just by CB, the other boards, and my support systems thereon, I cut my sentence in credit purgatory by four years. I tell everyone I come across about this board and others like it.
You're DAMN SKIPPY I'm a believer and ETERNALLY grateful!!

I found this board through another message board. I'm a current college student with an already rough start to credit history. I have just decided to get back on track with my credit score/report.
Over the past three years (since turning 18), I have tons of inquiries from applying for too many CC's, only one Cap1 with a measly $300 limit, and no bank account because I have a charged off account with a bank, that I am just now getting around to paying off. I did a free Lending Tree credit score finder earlier this year and the score reported was around a 530 or so. I would like to get within the range of "good" credit by the time I graduate. In about a month (or less, HOPEFULLY), I will begin the process to better credit by ordering my score report from myfico.com,
I look forward to being a CB Success Story!
By the way, does anyone know if I can order my own myfico.com score/report using a friend's Debit card? The person would sit while I order and enter her info, but the report needs to be in my name.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------'
One year later: After making NO positive changes to my scores since I first joined CB, I am back and more SERIOUS than ever. You can check out my story in my signature. RECLAIMING MY FINANCIAL FREEDOM!!!

QUOTE(breeze @ Jun 29 2006, 09:13 AM)

A big welcome to you all!!

Hi to all of you fabulous people!

I have been glued to this board since I found it on Saturday - when I got mine and dh's credit reports and realized that there just might be an end in sight to our bad credit purgatory, as many of our acts were approaching the 7 year time limit for reporting. So I searched "7 years remove debt credit report " and here I am!
My dh is self-employed (the hardest working man I know!) and, after many years of medical expenses (uncovered childbirth with preterm labor complications is REALLY expensive...) and deadbeat business partners sucking the life (and the money) out of us, we have truly "been through the mill". We had to sell our house, had a leased van repo'd, too many medical CA's to count, a judgment for over $7,000 that we couldn't begin to pay at the time etc, and a huge tax lien that we hope to resolve in the next year. I did my time hiding from the phone (and I rejoiced when we could finally get caller ID!) and being bullied into tears by unsympathetic CA's.
We've paid off the judgment - which by some miracle never made it to our credit reports - but all of the individual acts. did. To our surprise, the agent from that particular CA (a local outfit, natch) was actually fantastic about updating the acts as we paid each one off through the Judgment - she noticed that, when we were finally able to start paying, we were consistent with the payments and honest about our situation, so if we needed to put off a payment for a week or two she kept the big dogs at her office off of our back. Now many of those CA's are within a year or two of falling off the reports - I'll post questions about that in the appropriate forums soon - and my very first fight is to DV the nasty NOC that purchased our van lease repo debt. David v. Goliath, part II! I will be asking lots of questions confirming the 1-2 punch when I get my green cards back in the next week or so, so get ready, lol!
I have to add that I was a paralegal in my former life (am now a stay at home mom of four and will be returning to work as a marketing assistant p/t with dh at his brand-new office this fall during the school day) and am utterly amazed at the wealth and accuracy of information you all have so kindly provided. Of course, my favorites are the breakdowns of all of the court cases and statutes from the brilliant minds of Butch, Breeze, Sassy and OH so many others (working my way through PsychDoc's seminars too...)!
I'll need a new printer by the time I am done printing out all of the information I've found here - and I might need a new dh if he ever gets tired of printing everything for me (and if I don't get off this computer now and then), lol!
Anyway, this is my first post (aka short novel) and you'll be seeing more when I get my green cards back from NOC

- I've got LOTS of questions, so keep an eye out for me!
Thanks for being here!
