Full Version: MAXED OUT LOANS
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

Hi,
I will enter my final year of nursing school this fall and my student loans are maxed out. Even with a hospital schoarship and working 16hrs/week I will still fall short by 3k a sem. I am bummed and really don't know what to do. I can't get private loans b/c of bad credit. I thought about a home equity loan but only been buying the home for 6 months. Does anyone know if federal student loans will make an exception? I have already talked w/the finaid office at my school she is looking into what help she can find.
thanks

Ask the fin aid office at your school if post-bacc students in your program are eligible for a Perkins loan if you have 'need'. Some schools will award this & you don't have to be credit worthy as it is a federally backed loan.

Also ask your nursing recruiter if your state offers nursing loans. Most states do and you must have 'need' and you don't have to be credit worthy. Also ask your recruiter if they have any scholarship $ you might qualify for.
