I have a friend that had a student loan thru Sallie Mae and US Dept of Education. He has not been in school for the past 2 years, but he will be back this fall. He will need loans to help finish financing his education. Do you think goodwill letters will help him in this process?

Is he in default??? Is he making payments?

If his loans are current and not in default, he is fine, he can get aid.
If he is in default and has not been making payments, he will not qualify for aid. Goodwill letters will not help. If he is in default and making satisfactory payments and has made 6 ontime monthly payments, he can get his aid back, but he must continue making the payments.

Well they sent him a forebearance form stating if he didn't turn it in, he would be in default.
