I know I have bad cedit. I took out some credit cards 4 to 5 years ago when I was 18-19, maxed them out to pay for school related expenses and eventually quit sending payments. The problem is that I need a private loan for graduate school and I've been turned down a few times already. My parents declared bankruptcy around 3 years ago, paid it off already, but they don't work as co-borrowers. What can I do? Thanks in advance for your help.

All private lenders that I know of require you to have acceptable credit or a co-signor that has good credit.

If you are in grad school, why not just take out stafford/direct loans thru the school? You can get up to $18500 a year & don't have to be credit worthy.

I am already approved for federal loans. I still need around 30000 a year to supplement.

Ouch. Thirty grand a year to supplement?

Ummm ... I can only offer you this small bit of advice - work study. It will take you longer to finish school and it will suck, but it's the best way I know to make extra money. I know someone who did this and although it took her six years to finish her Bachelor's degree, she got it and came out of school with no debt (she did it in lieu of SLs). When she got ready to do her Master's degree, she did the same thing - school for a semester and work for a semester.

Or get a job as a night security officer. Clean up your credit. Work at the school.

There are ways to get the money other than private lenders; it's just about how creative you can be.

I have to agree with TxQuiltGirl. $30,000 Supplement is a lot, is there any cheaper schools that have your program that you could possibly go to and not be so expensive or could you go to night school (That is how I am going to get my MBA) so you can work during the day and go to school at night?
