I have just had the most confusing credit experience ever. DH and I were in Sams when I came across the Sams Discover Biz app. So, I filled it in, left the PG blank, and took it up front. I explained to the lady that I WAS NOT interested in the Sams Biz Card (since we already have it) and wanted Discover Card only. (The app says something about giving you the Sams card if you don't qualify for the Discover). Anyway, left it with her and went shopping. Came back to find that I was NOT approved for Discover Biz, but WAS approved for Discover personal. WTF????? I didn't even apply for Discover personal??? I got a $5000 limit. I came home and checked and they have pulled EXP. I didn;t give social, and didn't sign PG. How the FREAK was I approved for personal card???? Furthermore, why was I denied biz card??? And lastly, they upgraded my biz membership to Biz PLUS, charged me $70 to do it, then denied me for the Discover??? What was the point of the $70 charge??? The CSR had no clue. She said she would put it on the supers desk and have them review it. They gave me a temp card to use in store and said Discover would arrive in 2 weeks. It was like a blur. My mind is boggled right now. I took the personal because I can use the CL for utilization, but I still can't really use it because it's gonna show up on my credit. I have no clue what just happened.

Wow!! Everyone's experiences are making me scared to even apply for the discover once I have my biz score. I know you said you need it for util. but I would call up and cuss someone out! They have non PP against them at a minimum if you wanted to pursue it. That is crazy!

I forgot to add that they took your money for something that you didn't even get!

Just got off the phone with some guy in underwriting at GE (thanks to a phone number I found in another post here). According to his computer, they pulled EQUIFAX and D&B. I was denied based on the Equifax file (my worst, of course, with a 651 score). This guy has no access to the personal Discover card, but says it sounds like someone at Sams pushed a personal app thru after my Biz denial. blink.gif mad.gif The personal app pulled Experian (my best report at 701) and was approved for $5000 CL. I am so freakin pissed right now. I'm trying to find a number to call about the personal card. Would they do something like this just to get my $70 for a biz membership upgrade???

I thought that you had a good paydex?

okay talked to a ge underwriter. the sams club discover card is actually in house approved by monogram/ge bank they have an internal scoring model referred to as compass. they base length of business, # of tradelines, and # of employees, as well as your credit rating into this factor if you have a compass score of atleast 470 the computer automatically decisions it for an approval if not than it goes to an underwriter for an override. if a personal guarantee is used they use equifax and require a beacon score of atleast 670

Well that still doesnt explain Jack Doodley about why I was denied....21 trades on file, 7 employees, and apaydex of 80???? What more do they want??? So, assuming not enough biz credit... rolleyes.gif ...they then pulled EQ (without my social or PG section signed)..and denied based on 651 FICO. I understand now *what* happened with the biz card, altrhough I don't understand WHY. But, somehow I still ended up with a persoinal card with a $5000 CL. Makes no sense to me at all. dntknw.gif

I have NOOOO idea what happened. Something similar to mine, where they also pulled my personal (I didn't give them a PG OR a SSN). In my case though, I was instantly approved for the biz for 7,500. When I called and complained that they pulled my personal credit, they deleted the app...so I have no clue if it ever got to the underwriters. I don't think so because I never got a denial letter, etc.

I just received my 7,500 Discover card yesterday so it's the real deal.

They are whacked over there.

Call the underwriters and find out why your biz was not approved.

Allow me to add my name to the list of pissed people.

This was not for a discover card, but just their biz card. 3 pulls the same day without consent. Biz turned down, and personal approved for 500.00

Sams person... "I'm t6alking to them now, but just so you'll know, you have already been approved."

Me.... "Great"

Sams again.. "I'm sorry, but the Biz was turned down, but you were approved"

ME.. "I was approved. I did not fill out an app"

Nice young lady "I know, but I got you a limit of 500.00"

ME.... "you pulled my personal report??????!!!"

Them. "yep"

Now, I have a sams card for myself that I did not apply for. I had 3 INQs. 1 for the biz, one for the personal. That does not add up to 3 I know, but let me tell you the rest of this nightmare..

I called to see why the biz was declined (since they pulled a personal with a 720 score). She could not tell me. I was not allowed to talk to a super. Finally she said "is there anything else I can help you with today?" I said not unless you can give me a CLI. She said "Let me see what I can do".... "I'm sorry sir, not today" 3rd.... THIRD INQ. Did not tell me they were going to pull, but they did...

Called underwriting. Just like a previous poster said, they DO pull personal if biz file is not strong enough. rolleyes.gif So, apparently my biz file (which, by the way was good enough for a 20K Citi line and $50K Excursion)is not good enough for a Discover card. But instead of telling me that, they went ahead and pulled Equifax without my permission to see if they could approve based on personal credit. Declined again due to 651 FICO.

So...THIS is what happened to the biz card. Still can't explain the personal approval or the Experian pull. But, it's $5000 that will help my utilization....so I'll take it.

Also, I can use my personal Discover card in conjunction with my biz membership to get the 2% cash back. I WILL NOT however, since it's not worth it to me to have it show on my CR. I will be going back to Sams and cancelling my $70 PLUS membership. mad.gif

Im sorry that happened to you, but thanks for posting because you saved me a rejection, if you aint getting it then I definitley aint getting it. I hate declines and rejections so I will save this for later.... much later... smile.gif

sorry to hear about that ceowens. Like rigirl, I am going to leave sam's discover alone for a while.

That still doesn't explain how I got the 7.5k! Hmmm.. My EQ score is 582! And my biz file is nowhere near as thick as ceowens.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.....

Exactly. Hey, and the CSR at the store says to me..."they do this all the time. They will prolly call you in a couple of weeks and tell you to go back to the store to pick up your BIZ card". huh.gif
