Hello.
I signed up for a local university (AIU) back in 2001. The school was really bad and I only attended 1 semester.

I got a student loan and they charged SALLIEMAE $5,000. for my one semester, which was wrong. This was the tuition for FULL TIME STUDENT FOR 2 SEMESETERS. And they put me in collections for $3,000 which was wiped out when I filed CH.7 in 2002.

I spoke to Sallie Mae and they gave me forbeance until next month. I have been trying to get the school to give me proof and they cannot. I disputed with EQ, TRANSUNION and EXPERIAN and they both said the information was correct.

What can i do?

Please help,.

Did you official withdraw from the University or just stop attending?  Did you do an exit interview with Financial AID? Also student loans are not covered in Bankruptcy. Also was this your freshman year??

Ask the school for a copy of your student account.  That should show you all the accounting.  Also, it sounds like you have more than one loan.  What is Sallie Mae telling you?  They should be able to tell you disperment dates and amounts.

What can i do?

Please help,.

Also didn't you sign some loan documents that would have stated the amount of the loan? I remember when I got my loans that I had forms to sign before a check was issued.
